Illinois Real Estate Broker CE Requirements

If first issued a Broker License prior to November 1, 2023:

  • 12-hours of CE is required: This must consist of a 6-hour Core* course and 6 hours of elective courses, including a Sexual Harassment Prevention Training.
  • Note: The Sexual Harassment Prevention Training may be counted towards elective hours if completed through an approved education provider.

If first issued a Broker License between November 1, 2023 and October 31, 2025:

  • 45 Hours of Post License Education is required

If first issued a Broker License on or after November 1, 2025

  • A license issued during this period will have an expiration date of 4/30/2028 45 Hours of Post License Education is required to be completed by4/30/2028

Certification of Compliance with Continuing Education (CE) Requirements

  1. AHI reports CE completions to the IDFPR
  2. Each renewal applicant must certify on the renewal application full compliance with the CE requirements.
  3. Attorneys admitted to practice law pursuant to Illinois Supreme Court rule are exempt from CE, but must certify on the renewal application full compliance with the CE requirements.
  4. The Department may require additional evidence demonstrating compliance with the CE requirements. It is the responsibility of each renewal applicant to retain and produce evidence of such compliance upon request.
